A Agência Jovem de Notícias está marcando presença mais uma vez na Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudanças Climáticas – a COP19. Este ano o evento acontece em Varsóvia, na Polônia, entre os dias 11 e 22 de novembro. quatro dias antes a juventude se reúne na COY – Conferência da Juventude, para definir estratégias e alinhar posicionamentos dos jovens durante as negociações, que esta ano vão tratar de questões como financiamento para a transição para uma economia de baixo carbono, redução das emissões por parte dos países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento, como o Brasil, e políticas de créditos de carbono. Além disso, os 193 países integrantes das Nações Unidas negociam um acordo global de redução de emissões que evite que a temperatura do planeta suba mais do que 2ºC nas próximas décadas. O acordo em questão passará a valer a partir de 2020.
A Agência Jovem integra a delegação jovem do Brasil na COP19, mas também conta com a participação de jovens argentinos, colombianos e italianos, e é uma iniciativa da Viração Educomunicação (www.viracao.org) em parceira com a ONG Engajamundo (www.engajamundo.org) e outras instituições brasileiras e internacionais, que tem como objetivo garantir a participação da juventude na COP19, bem como a produção de conteúdos numa linguagem acessível para a juventude. Além disso, a delegação jovem brasileira busca fortalecer a sua atuação dentro da YOUNGO, que é o grupo que representa oficialmente a juventude dentro na UNFCCC – Convenção Quadro da ONU sobre Mudanças Climáticas, que hoje é tradicionalmente ocupado por jovens dos países desenvolvidos. Tradicionalmente, a América Latina e a África, por exemplo, não têm representação forte nesses eventos. “Desde a COP18, em Doha, estamos trabalhando para fortalecer a participação da juventude brasileira e latinoamericana nestes espaços para garantir que as nossas pautas, como desmatamento, agricultura e mobilidade sejam escutadas. Estes não são temas comuns entre os jovens dos países desenvolvidos, nossos problemas são diferentes”, explica Evelyn Araripe, educomunicadora da Viração Educomunicação e integrante da delegação jovem do Brasil em Varsóvia. Evelyn ainda destaca que recentemente alguns movimentos tem surgido para fortalecer ainda mais a participação dos jovens brasileiros e latino na temática das mudanças climáticas como o Climax Brasil e o Clic! – Movimento Climático Latinoamericano e Caribeño.

The Youth Press Agency is being present again in the UN Conference on Climate Change – the COP19. This year’s event takes place in Warsaw, Poland, between 11 and 22 November. Four days before the youth meets at the COY – Youth Conference, to define strategies and align proposals of young people during the negotiations, that this year will address issues such as funding for the transition to a low carbon economy, reducing emissions by developed countries and developing countries, such as Brazil, and policies for carbon credits. In addition, the 193 member countries of the UN are going to negotiate a global agreement to reduce emissions and prevents that the planet’s temperature rise more than 2ºC until the end of these century. The agreement will take effect from 2020.
The Youth Press Agency is a member of the Brazilian Youth Delegation at the COP19, but also with the participation of young people from Argentina, Colombia and Italy, and is an initiative of Viração Educomunication ( www.viracao.org ) in partnership with the NGO Engajamundo ( www.engajamundo . org ) and other domestic and international institutions , which aims to ensure the participation of youth in COP19 , as well as the production of content in a language accessible to youth.
